Few manufacturers have built a reputation quite so consistently around how a car feels rather than what it measures on paper, and it's worth remembering the badge started at the very top of motorsport. The Alfetta 158, a pre-war design still competitive over a decade after it was first sketched, won every round of the inaugural 1950 Formula 1 World Championship except the Indianapolis 500, which the team simply didn't enter, driven by a trio of drivers nicknamed the "Three Fs" — Farina, Fangio, and Fagioli. Nino Farina became the sport's first-ever World Champion as a result, and Juan Manuel Fangio repeated the feat the following year in the developed 159 version of the same car.
