A Genuinely Important Warning: UK Guides Differ Completely From US Ones — Nissan Juke Cabin Air Filter
This is genuinely worth knowing before following any online video: US and other left-hand-drive guides typically show the filter accessed behind the glovebox in the passenger footwell — but on a UK right-hand-drive Juke, access is genuinely different, via the glovebox itself. The documented UK-specific procedure involves opening the glovebox and removing three screws along the top edge, then closing the glovebox again and removing four further screws along the lower edge. If you're following a video that doesn't match what you're seeing in your car, this left-hand-drive versus right-hand-drive difference is almost certainly why.
It's also worth knowing a genuinely practical fitting detail: the replacement filter is often noticeably larger than the opening it needs to pass through, compressing somewhat like an accordion — you'll typically need to gently pinch and guide it past the edges of the opening at both the top and bottom rather than expecting it to slide straight in, and working in this position can be awkward. Patience with this specific step avoids creasing or damaging a brand new filter during fitting.
Easy to Forget, Easy to Fix
Unlike most parts covered here, this one has no bearing on how the car drives or performs — its only job is air quality inside the cabin, which makes it very easy to forget about entirely until something forces the issue.
What It Does
The cabin air filter cleans incoming air before it reaches the car's ventilation system, trapping dust, pollen and, on activated-carbon versions, some airborne odours and pollutants. It has no connection to the engine air filter, which is a completely separate part serving the combustion process rather than the cabin.
