Bentley became the first British manufacturer to win Le Mans in 1924, and the following decade belonged almost entirely to the marque and a group of wealthy amateur racers known as the "Bentley Boys" — five outright victories between 1924 and 1930, capped by that unprecedented 1929 quadruplet where Bentleys finished first, second, third, and fourth. That record for outright dominance stood unbeaten until Jaguar and Ferrari finally matched it decades later.
