Desirable Maseratis

Maserati remains the only Italian manufacturer to ever win the Indianapolis 500 — and it did so twice in a row, in 1939 and 1940. The record still stands today.

Italian Elegance, Genuine Performance

Maserati's trident badge, taken directly from the Fountain of Neptune statue standing in Bologna's Piazza Maggiore near the marque's first workshop, made its competition debut in 1926 at the Targa Florio — the first entry in a run of genuine motorsport pedigree that included four consecutive Targa Florio wins through the late 1930s and, most remarkably, back-to-back victories at the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940. No other Italian manufacturer has ever won America's most famous race, before or since. That racing foundation carried through to a Formula 1 World Championship in 1957 with Juan Manuel Fangio behind the wheel.
