Desirable Rolls-Royces

"The Best Car in the World" wasn't Rolls-Royce's own slogan — Autocar magazine coined it in 1907, after a Silver Ghost drove London to Glasgow 27 times without a single unscheduled stop.

The Benchmark Other Luxury Brands Get Measured Against

Few names carry quite this much unforced authority in the luxury conversation, and the reputation was earned rather than claimed. To prove the new 40/50 h.p. chassis, later nicknamed the Silver Ghost, Rolls-Royce's own managing director drove one on a 15,000-mile endurance run in 1907, covering the distance between London and Glasgow 27 times over. It emerged with no components damaged or broken — a genuinely remarkable result at a time when cars of any kind were notoriously unreliable. Autocar's resulting verdict, "The Best Car in the World," wasn't marketing copy from Rolls-Royce itself; it was an outside magazine's honest conclusion, and the phrase has followed the badge ever since.

That same standard of engineering rigour still defines the brand today, whether it's the Phantom carrying the torch in its most traditional form or the Spectre proving the formula translates just as convincingly to an electric powertrain. Below are the models we've covered so far.
