Ford Puma Exhaust System: Specs, Fitment & Common Faults

Unlike much of Ford's range, UK Pumas were never sold with diesel — meaning a major current Ford-wide DPF recall genuinely doesn't apply here.

Accuracy note: genuinely worth knowing: exhaust and catalytic converter part numbers vary significantly by engine on the Puma — a part correct for one engine variant will very likely not fit or meet emissions requirements on another, so confirm your exact engine code via VIN before ordering, particularly for the catalytic converter itself.

Good News: The Major Ford Diesel DPF Recall Doesn't Apply to UK Pumas

Ford has confirmed a major, current recall (reference 24E06, part of the broader KBA 14555R campaign covering over 1.2 million diesel vehicles worldwide) addressing a Diesel Particulate Filter design weakness affecting much of Ford's diesel range. Worth knowing directly: while a 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel Puma was offered in continental Europe, Ford explicitly confirmed the UK market never took this diesel option — UK Pumas are petrol/mild-hybrid only. This means the DPF recall genuinely doesn't apply to a standard UK-market Puma, though it's worth double-checking if your specific car was privately imported from Europe.

What It Does

The exhaust system channels burnt gases away from the engine, reduces noise through the silencer, and on most modern cars, treats emissions through a catalytic converter and particulate filter before gases exit the tailpipe. Petrol and diesel versions of the same model often use entirely different systems due to different emissions treatment requirements.
