Worth knowing before assuming a fault: some surface rust or pitting on the rear discs specifically is genuinely normal and expected — rear discs do considerably less braking work than the fronts (commonly cited as only 10-15% of overall braking effort), which is part of why they're smaller and why they tend to stay visibly rustier even on an otherwise healthy car, particularly after driving on wet or salted roads.
