If you're unsure which your car has, the diameter is stamped on the existing strut body or listed in the vehicle's build specification.

An even more important distinction: cars fitted with DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control, VW's electronically adaptive damping system) use a completely different strut with a built-in electrical connector and solenoid valve — standard, non-adaptive struts are not interchangeable with DCC struts under any circumstances, and fitting the wrong type will trigger a persistent dashboard warning. Check for a "DCC" button on the dash or the option code on your build sheet before ordering, since this matters more than engine size or trim badge.
