A genuinely honest, real account worth knowing about how coils can fail: documented cases on related Lexus models describe coils failing in close succession within a short period, rather than always as isolated events. It's also worth knowing that while it's technically possible to keep driving with a confirmed bad ignition coil, this isn't recommended, since the resulting misfire can foul the related spark plug and allow unburned fuel through to the catalytic converter.
