OEM Part Number: confirm via VIN — front pads (aftermarket) Brembo P 06 060 / Bosch 0 986 494 549

Accuracy note: Covers the BMW 5 Series (F10 2010-2017) as listed in the UK aftermarket catalogues. Front brake pads are sold by caliper system (ATE / Teves, TRW / Lucas, Bosch, Akebono, Brembo etc.) and by pad size, and one model usually has two or three pad sizes depending on engine, brake size and trim — a wrong size will not fit the caliper. The references below are UK aftermarket catalogue listings for this generation, labelled by brand with their width x height x thickness in mm; genuine numbers are shown only where a listing quotes one. Measure the old pad or check the caliper system against your VIN before ordering, and fit a new wear sensor where the set is only 'prepared for' one.
Front brake pads (aftermarket)Brembo P 06 060 (155 x 63-64 x 19-20 mm, wear sensor prepared, ATE/Teves/Continental system, WVA 23794/24697); Brembo P 06 074 (155 x 68 x 19-20 mm, wear sensor prepared, ATE/Teves/Continental system, WVA 23313/24688); Bosch 0 986 494 549 (155.3 x 68.5 x 19-19.8 mm, wear sensor not stated, WVA 24688); Bosch 0 986 494 429 (191.9-192.8 x 79.3 x 19-20 mm, wear sensor not stated, WVA 25045); ATE 13.0460-7275.2 (154.1 x 68.4 x 19.2-20.2 mm, wear sensor prepared and not included, ATE/Teves/Continental system); Ridex 402B0046 (154.8-155.2 x 63.6 x 20 mm, wear sensor prepared); Ridex 402B0553 (155 x 68 x 19-20 mm, wear sensor prepared, WVA 24688/23313)
Pad sizes & variantsThree sizes. 155 x 63-64 x 19-20 mm (smaller brakes; Brembo P 06 060, Ridex 402B0046 and 402B0046P, febi 16825), 155 x 68 x 19-20 mm (standard; Brembo P 06 074, Bosch 0 986 494 549, ATE 13.0460-7275.2, Ridex 402B0553) and 192-193 x 79 x 19-20 mm (larger brakes; Bosch 0 986 494 429, febi 16787).
Genuine (OE) numbers quotedNone quoted in catalogue listings — order genuine pads against your VIN
Fitment notesThe 192 mm pads are for the larger front brakes on the more powerful models; Sets are only prepared for a wear sensor, so a contact is separate. No front sets from TRW or Textar (rear only), Ferodo, Pagid, Mintex or Delphi.

BMW 5 Series Brake Pads: Brake Pads Are One of the Few Truly Universal Parts

Every version of the 5 Series uses brake pads that wear down through normal use — the only real variable is how quickly, which depends on engine, trim, and (where fitted) whether the car has any form of regenerative braking to ease the load.

Before you buy: pad size and compound vary by engine and trim. Always confirm against your VIN before ordering.

BMW 5 Series Brake Pads: What They Do

Brake pads clamp against the discs to convert the car's momentum into heat, slowing it down. On any version of the 5 Series with hybrid assistance or regenerative braking, this system handles a meaningful share of everyday slowing, which can genuinely extend pad life compared with a purely petrol or diesel equivalent.

Common Sizes

Front pad, base brakes (shared with G02, G05), confirmed left/right specificSized to match the 348mm disc/caliper on this tier. Pad size genuinely scales with engine output and trim on this model, not just the disc diameter — always confirm the exact pad against your VIN rather than assuming from generation alone.
Rear pad (shared with F90 M5)Sized to match the 370mm disc/caliper on this tier. Pad size genuinely scales with engine output and trim on this model, not just the disc diameter — always confirm the exact pad against your VIN rather than assuming from generation alone.
Right-side ventilated pad, punched holesA genuinely different pad from the standard tier — confirm fitment via VIN before ordering.
M Sport brakes (S2NHA option), frontGenuinely a different, larger pad to match the 348mm disc/caliper on this higher tier — not interchangeable with the standard-tier pad on the same axle.

A Genuinely Useful Piece of Context Worth Knowing About Wear Sensor Resets — BMW 5 Series Brake Pads

If a brake pad wear warning won't clear despite fitting new pads, this is genuinely worth knowing: the wear sensor works through internal electrical stages, and once the first wear event has genuinely occurred, the sensor cannot be reused or reset again, even if it still looks physically intact.

A genuinely useful finding worth checking before assuming a genuine fault: many failed reset attempts are simply down to the handbrake still being engaged, even if it looks released — the car needs to be in park with the handbrake fully off for the reset to complete.

It's also genuinely worth knowing that aftermarket and budget sensors have been documented as genuinely hit and miss when it comes to resetting properly, worth sticking with a genuine sensor if you've had trouble.
