Before assuming every clunk or rattle can be permanently fixed, this is genuinely worth knowing: one documented case saw a dealer diagnose a persistent clunk (felt through the brake pedal and steering, especially at low speed or full lock) as coming from a component of the brake assembly contacting the caliper — with the dealer explicitly stating this was simply how the car was designed, with no dampener or anti-rattle fitted at that point, and that "this car will clunk forever more." While their work did reportedly improve it, this is a genuinely honest admission worth knowing, since it means chasing a complete, permanent silence on this specific noise may not be realistic even after proper investigation and work.

A genuinely useful, harmless rattle worth ruling out first: a loud, "very agricultural" sounding rattle, particularly at idle, has been documented as commonly caused simply by the air filter intake pipe's retaining clip working loose or the pipe itself opening up slightly — genuinely harmless to the engine, and a very cheap fix (duct tape and cable ties as a temporary measure, or a new air filter box as the proper fix) rather than anything more serious.
