A Vibrating Steering Wheel Doesn't Necessarily Mean Warped Discs
If you've had discs and pads recently fitted and start feeling a pulsing vibration under braking, the instinctive assumption is that the discs have warped — but in the large majority of cases, this isn't genuine heat warping at all. What's actually happening is Disc Thickness Variation (DTV), uneven pad material building up across the disc surface, often during the bedding-in period, producing the exact same sensation as true warping. Following a proper gradual bedding-in procedure with new discs and pads — avoiding hard, sustained braking in the first few hundred miles — measurably reduces the risk of this developing.

Brake discs provide the surface the brake pads clamp against to slow the car, converting momentum into heat through friction. Larger, sportier trims of the EcoSport typically use bigger discs than standard versions to handle the additional heat generated by more aggressive braking.
