This is a real, confirmed engineering strength rather than marketing — independent long-term reviews consistently rate the naturally-aspirated 2.0 and 2.5-litre units as dependable with few structural faults. As with most direct-injection engines, carbon build-up on the intake valves is a known long-term characteristic worth being aware of — it shows up as rough idling, reduced power, or occasional misfires, and is generally addressed with a professional intake cleaning rather than being a sign of a deeper problem.

The Diesel Skyactiv-D Tells a Genuinely Different, Weaker Story
